Your Questions About Being Remembered

Everything you want to know about preserving your legacy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dear Futre?

Dear Futre helps individuals and families preserve their stories, values, and life experiences in a meaningful, lasting format. Through guided interviews and professional editing, we turn your memories into something your family can treasure for generations.

Who is this for?

Dear Futre is for anyone who wants their story remembered. Many who record their story are parents or grandparents who want their children and future generations to know who they were and what they believed. Others are individuals who have experienced meaningful moments in life and want those lessons preserved. Anyone who values legacy, memory, and connection can benefit from recording their story.

Is this only for older individuals?

Not at all. Young parents, newly married couples, missionaries, converts, and individuals at all stages of life choose to record their story. Legacy is not about age — it’s about intention.

What if I’m not sure my story is “important enough”?

Every person thinks this. But to your children — and to their children — your voice matters. Your memories matter. Your faith journey matters. Ordinary lives become extraordinary through the eyes of those who love you.

Why does preserving testimony matter?

Stories shape identity. When children and grandchildren hear how you found faith, overcame hardship, felt guided, or what you believe about God and family, it strengthens them. Words spoken today can carry spiritual weight for generations.

What happens during a session?

We conduct a relaxed, guided interview where you share your life experiences, lessons, testimony, and meaningful memories. You don't need to prepare anything formal - we help guide the conversation naturally.

Do I need to know what to say?

Not at all. Most people worry about this, but the right questions bring everything out naturally. We guide you step-by-step so your story flows comfortably and authentically.

What if I’m not comfortable being recorded?

Many people feel this way at first, and that’s completely normal. The goal is not to perform or deliver a perfect speech. The session simply feels like a conversation.

Most people forget the camera is even there after a few minutes. The focus is on your story — your memories, your experiences, and the lessons you want to share with those you love.

Many people also reflect on how meaningful it would be to have a recording of their own grandparents or great-grandparents speaking about their lives. For future generations, hearing your voice and seeing your expressions may become one of the most treasured things they have.

Authentic moments are what make these recordings meaningful. Your family won’t be looking for perfection — they will simply be grateful to see and hear you as you truly are.

What if I get emotional?

That’s normal. In fact, it’s often where the most meaningful moments happen. There is no rush, no pressure, and no expectation to “perform.” We simply create space for you to speak from the heart.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No preparation is required. However, some people like to bring photos, review old journals, write down key moments, or pray/reflect beforehand. We guide the conversation in a natural way so your story unfolds comfortably.

Where do sessions take place?

Sessions can be held in your home or another comfortable location. We aim to make the experience simple and stress-free.

How long does it take?

Session times vary depending on the package chosen. They start between 60-90 minutes.

When should I expect final delivery?

Delivery timelines depend on the package and options selected. Most projects are completed within a few weeks, allowing time for thoughtful editing and careful presentation.

What do I receive at the end?

Depending on the package selected, you may receive:
A professionally edited video
A digital keepsake file
A shareable private link for family
Optional physical or archival formats

Can I update my story later?

Yes. Many people choose to record their story at different stages of life. As experiences grow and families change, new reflections can be added over time, creating a richer legacy for future generations.

Can I record my story in another language?

Yes. We currently offer recording sessions in both English and Spanish. Sharing your story in your native language can make the experience more natural and meaningful. Spanish recordings can also include English subtitles so future generations can fully understand and appreciate your story. Because additional translation and editing are involved, a surcharge may apply.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on the collection selected. You can view the available collections and pricing here.

Is this faith-based?

Faith is welcome here. Many people choose to share their testimony, spiritual experiences, and lessons learned from their relationship with God. Others simply focus on life experiences and family history. You decide what is included. Your story can be as faith-centered or as simple as you’d like.

Is my content secure?

Yes. Your recordings and final files are handled with care and are never shared publicly without explicit permission. Privacy and dignity are foundational to what we do.

What if I have sacred or very personal experiences?

You are always in control. Some experiences are sacred. Some are painful. Some are private. You can choose not to share certain things, record portions that are kept completely private, create a version for immediate family only, or record something to be opened in the future. Nothing is ever shared publicly without your clear permission.

What if I don’t want certain family members to see parts of it?

That’s completely okay. We can create separate versions, lock content behind private access, set future release instructions, or keep portions archived but not distributed. This is your legacy — you decide who sees what and when.

What makes this different from just writing a journal?

Journals are powerful. But hearing your voice, seeing your expressions, and feeling your emotion preserves something more than words. Video captures presence — allowing future generations to see and hear you as you truly were.
